Republic returns E170 to PHX
American Eagle begins LAX service

     Republic returns the E170 to the PHX schedule after a long period of time. The aairline will use the aircraft type on some flights from Denver (DEN) operating for Frontier. Republic has used the E170 on this route in the past and also uses the E190 to DEN. Republic / Frontier use gates in Terminal 3 at PHX.

     American Eagle joins several other airlines on the busy PHX to Los Angeles (LAX) route this month. The airline will use the CRJ-700 four times daily on this route. American Eagle has operated this route in the past using the ERJ, but has not operated from PHX in quite some time. The airline uses gates at Terminal 3 while at PHX.

     Delta will use the 767-300 on some flights to Detroit (DTW) from PHX this month. The airline has used the type to Atlanta on and off frequently and uses various other aircraft types to several destinations from PHX. Delta operates from Terminal 3 while at PHX.

     Expressjet discontinues all service to PHX this month. The airline had operated nonstop flights to Houston (IAH) from PHX using the the E145. This was the only service operated by Expressjet at PHX. Skywest now operates this route for United Express.

     U S Airways Express (Mesa) discontinues nonstop service to Memphis (MEM) and Telluride (TEX) in April. The airline had used the CRJ-900 to MEM and the DHC-8 to TEX. Mesaba operates nonstop service to MEM from PHX but this was the only nonstop service to TEX from PHX. U S Airways Express operates numerous flights to many destinations from PHX from gates in Terminal 3.

     Construction associated with the airports new automated train continues around the eastern area of the airport. Road closures and delays can be expected because of this construction. The PHX Sky Train as it will be known is scheduled to begin running between the Phoenix Metro Light Rail at 44th Street and Washington and the East Economy parking lot and Terminal 4. It is scheduled to continue on to the Rental Car Center west of the airport by the year 2020. More info on the PHX Sky Train can be found on the official Sky Harbor website located here:
